Grant's 2nd Birthday - Daniel Tiger Theme

We almost have a 2 year old in the Martinez casa!

He loves all things Daniel Tiger right now, so when it came time to choose a theme for his party, there was no question about it!

I found these adorable invitations on Etsy.

We had the party at Poco Loco Farm and it was perfect.  We got to play with lots of sweet animals and a bounce house.  Perfect for adults and kids! We had to have it a couple of weeks before his actual birthday due to David's schedule, but Grant doesn't know the difference.

Our favorite part of party planning is the cake.  We LOVE Village Bakery here in Tyler and use them for every occasion.  I was so happy with how the cake turned out. It was exactly what I wanted.  Landmarks from the show are on the bottom tier and the characters are on the top tier.

Grant blew out the candles on the first try.

All he wanted to do was grab the Trolley off of the top.  Which he did, right after this photo was taken - haha!

And he kept grabbing fondant off of the cake.

Here's the décor: I didn't go all out for this party, but I think it turned out alright.

My parents got him this tricycle and he refused to get off of it. He can't pedal, but he wanted us to all push him around.

We spent the next morning playing with the bubble machine he got at the party and he loved it! David snapped this sweet picture.

Can't wait for Birthday #3!

Grant's 1st Birthday - Circus Theme

We celebrated Grant's birthday over the weekend and since I already did a post with his 12 month stats, this post will just be all about the party!

We went with a Circus theme, and I think it turned out pretty cute.  Unfortunately the day of the party was I.N.S.A.N.E. and I am just now realized that we barely took any photos.  Our electricity went out that morning and was off for 6 hours, the party store lost our balloon order and Grant was refusing to take a nap, so I ended up being frazzled and rushed for most of the day.  So I will share the pictures that we DID manage to take!

The cake was my absolute favorite part.  Village Bakery did a fabulous job like always!

Had to throw one in of me and the birthday boy, even though he was more interested in looking at all of the presents instead of the camera!

We borrowed a popcorn machine from David's mom, but I didn't manage to get a picture.  I am so sad because it was adorable and really fit our theme! Everyone loved the popcorn though and we did manage to get one picture of some popcorn on the table.

He was very tentative with the cake eating. He just picked up tiny pieces and ate it very slowly.  He didn't even eat very much before he decided he was full and wanted out of the high chair.

As party favors, everyone got to take home a box of animal crackers.

David grilled burgers and hot dogs for everyone and we all just relaxed and had a fun time celebrating Grant.  Since all of our family lives out of town, they enjoyed getting to spend time with Grant and see how much he's grown.  They hadn't even seen him walking yet, so they were all very impressed!

Happy Birthday! @ Rick's on the Square, Tyler, TX

Yesterday was my 24th birthday, and it was my best birthday to date!

THE MASSAGE
The day started off with a hot stone massage that my husband booked for me from Belladonna Day Spa.  I have always wanted to try a hot stone massage and I wasn't let down! It felt amazing and Taylor at Belladonna did an amazing job!  If you are looking to get any sort of spa treatment in Tyler, I recommend Belladonna.  The staff there is so nice and helpful and you really feel pampered when you go see them.

THE CAKE
My husband had previously told me that he was going to try and get me a cake from the bakery that made our wedding cake.  However, he later found out that they needed more than a few days notice.  I was bummed, but these things happen. Yesterday afternoon we left to go pick out a cake and I noticed him driving me in the direction of the bakery previously mentioned, Village Bakery.  Much to my enjoyment, he surprised me with a custom made birthday cake, the same flavor as our wedding cake - chocolate!  It was PERFECT for me! I am a huge Coach fanatic, so he went with a Coach theme.  It was even his idea to put the Signature C pattern around the sides. :) Absolutely amazing.  I was totally surprised, and so excited about getting another cake from that bakery.  Here are a few pictures:

THE PARTY
We decided to try a new place this year for my birthday, so we gave Rick's on the Square a shot.  It turned out to be a blast! They had a live band and we sat out on the patio.  The service was excellent and so was the food! It is definitly a place that I plan on going again.  Here are a few pictures from Rick's:

My husband made my first birthday as a married woman a success :)  Can't wait to see what he comes up with next year!
